Although it's not related to photography at all, one of my most useful tools to have with me while out on my photoexpeditions would be my GPS-enabled PDA. I use it constantly when driving/walking around aimlessly for photo ops. It also comes in handy to bookmark places where I take photos so I'll remember where I was which helps me type these image descriptions :) It works well to find places that I intend to go, but works even better to explore terrain such as following rivers and railroad tracks to see where they lead.

I was wondering how you remembered all the details of your shots. I envisioned that you went around with a paper notebook.
